說《練習簿》是董啟章高難度自選動作示範表演之結集，實在沒有半點誇張。
對青少年來說，董啟章的作品也許有點深奧，但筆者相信，他的文字很容易引發讀者想像和再創造。《練習簿》中的題材都是由校園出發，材料都是大家耳熟能詳，而上述所謂的「高難度自選動作」，指的是他的寫作取向：
《紀念冊》是作者代入物件講說話，透過紀念冊、粉刷、手表、鏡子、校服、改錯水、椅子、成績表等角色的自白，從另一個視點去了解和認識人和物，跳出平常的思想和閱讀框框。原來，有些物化的感覺比人真摰、比人率真、比人更「人」！
《小冬校園》是作者在想像中創造自己的世界，正如作者在序言所指，這是具有宮崎駿動畫感的小說，描繪的是離開地面的空中城市，無論是校長室的螞蟻、圖書館的森林、洗手間的士多啤梨等都展現出無拘無束又趣味盎然的奇想。
《家課冊》是筆者極力推介的高難度遊戲，玩的是用不同科目的語言作為隱喻，編織出微妙的愛情和友情，當 中不乏具啟發性的篇章。例如，藉著英文文法上的Four Types of “ if ” Sentences（條件句）來貫穿女學生暗戀男老師的故事，寫出女孩子想像那段感情發生的「可能性」、「有機會的將來」、「矛盾的現在」等景況，又借「及物動詞」、「不及物動詞」、「主詞」、「受詞」、「被動語態」等去比照單戀之苦，都是很容易令人產生共鳴的隱喻。最佩服作者的是，他作為文科生，為了寫這本小書而自修了不少會考理科概念，寫出了〈感情的波動〉（Physics）、〈碳水化合物之戀〉（Chemistry）、〈自我的再生〉（Biology）等文，將物理、化學和生物名詞運之掌上！
這本成長的《練習簿》讓筆者認識到何謂「文字享樂主義者」。真的很快樂啊！
